How long have you taught at IST?
I am K-2 teacher and have been teaching at IST since 2008. This will be my 13th year teaching at IST.
Describe IST in 3 words…
IST in a nutshell is diversity, equity and inclusion. This is one of the many ways IST stands out from other schools, especially when we embed these principles in our classrooms and community.
What is your favorite thing about the community?
I find IST to be a place filled with diversity among the student body, parents, faculty and the community as whole. IST is known for its multicultural community where people from different countries, ethnicities, language backgrounds and cultures come together.
What are the typical characteristics of an IST student?
A typical IST student is competitive, multilingual, and creative.
What is your favorite memory at IST?
The minute a child walks into my classroom, I feel this sense of attachment and within a few months these children become part of the IST family. It’s mesmerizing to see how these children become part of a teacher’s entire world even though they only get to spend a year together with them.
What would you be if you weren’t a teacher?
This is going to be a tough one, I have enjoyed teaching for as long as I have taught. But if not a teacher, I would be a lawyer.
